Tues Nite Ride

Did some nite road riding this week... stupidly chasing the pack largely all on roadies or hybrids...

Ok 32-11 full squishy and 2.4 fat rubbers can only go so far to keep up. But as I was waiting to catch them on the return lap on Coastal, I can't help thinking back to those days when all we rode were only hardtails on knobbies. Pissing off roadies, irritating them to no end with the "whumping" knobbie buzz refusing to let them peel away.

Sure it was still tough with mtb setups back then... but at least everyone still have a 44t big ring and we are talking about roadie paceline speed of ~35-36km/hr. These days even our ragtag COTES assortment are hitting low 40s most of the time that does not even include the all out final sprint. Dedicated roadies on Coastal are definitely much faster now.

Still.... thought it would be fun to do  a "remake"  re-living those good ol' days...
